HITSUJIGAOKA PARK
The overlook in the middle of an
enormous grazing land provides a panoramic view of Sapporo and the Ishikari
Plain, with Sapporo Dome in the foreground. Sheep graze freely in the area
during the summer, and the location is extremely tranquil, even though it is
within Sapporo city limits. A statue of Dr. William S. Clark stands atop the
hill, and along with his famous admonition “Boys, be ambitious!” has become a
symbol of Hitsujigaoka Observation Hill.
The monument of Sapporo (Yukari Monument) including Dr. Clark image is
maintained as tourist facilities in the corner of Ministry of Agriculture,
Forestry and Fisheries Hokkaido Agricultural Experiment Station since
1959(1959), and it is familiar as the tourist spot of Hokkaido. It is also a
place to relax for residents
Access: 10 minutes by bus from the Municipal Subway Toho Line Fukuzumi station
or From in front of Sapporo Station, take the Hokkaido Chuo bus for
Hitsujigaoka Tembodai and get off at Hitsujigaoka Tembodai.
